Busy day

I just finished painting the boys room azurite by Martha Stewart home depot. It looks awesome and so fresh. I will post photos when I have the furniture in place. I wish I could afford new matching bedding for them and a new bed for Joshua. I got new Shawn white target curtains ($6 ea, got 2) and a lamp ($19) on clearance. The matching twin bedding was sold out. I hesitated a long time before making this purchase. They have some crisp navy/ white striped bedding that would look great in our room and it was so inexpensive but I couldn't justify it.
What I really need to work on right now is styling my shelves, mixing the useful and beautiful in a pleasing, deliberate way.
I am looking for a casual navy blue chain link rug. It would go so great in our living room. I really need to paint the hall and entry too. I have to do all of this slowly and subtly as to not ruffle/alert/alarm my husband. He does not like change or spending money. Hence his fear of decorating! We are just configuring our house into the optimal combination of comfort, beauty, and utility. It's ongoing as our needs and wants change as we grow and change.
Next, pick up Joshua and put the room and house back together.

I feel like I've done my duty as a mother, housewife, and citizen today.

Busy summer days

I have ADD. As we speak, I have many unfinished projects sitting around the house. My friend just called and totally interrupted my train of thought. I have unfinished makeup, unfinished bill paying though I did finish the filing and make one health insurance call. Still need to fold laundry, clean faucet (soaking in vinegar - a pinterest cleaning tip that actually does work!), get Britta filter!, call Chip, brush hair, never did work out, finish watching Mad Men, go pick up kids in 10 min. All of us need a haircut very badly, especially me! Julie is so busy with her summer, she is so lucky to have a large extended family. That's why I love going back to SD during the summer with the kids. This summer we've planned to do our first home project together: painting their room dark blue! Joshua needs a new bed, Zach needs a desk, their closet needs to be optimized, we'll think about that later! Ok, gotta fly!

Single parent life

Im at the apartment pool having a "bbq" at a friend of ours. Its chaos in the pool and im burning. Ive had to watch all 4 kids AT THE POOL and 2 cant swim! No  drinks for the kids, no napkins, no water, very little shade. Sux. I didn't know we were camping, ok?
I can't wait to get home! I love our house. A womans touch apparently does a lot.
I am just drinking miller lite. The kids will sleep great.

Oh yeah!

Worked all morning organizing the boys toys, games and puzzles.

Made a huge bag for salvation army.

Still don't know what to do with those Legos!

Brag about daily accomplishments

Ok, yes it was facebook that inspired this. "dinner crocking, banana bread baking, homemade salsa chilling. Anyone else want a piece of me?" I was thinking what I could say about my accomplishments "laundry waiting to be put away, but utside cleaned. Garbage disposal refreshed. Returns made to 3 different stores.. Makeup applied." I don't know who was more productive. I have plans to organize. I worked on my desk today. I may try another living room arrangement...I am not loving this right now. Checking out posting from iPad for the first time.
They should make a "blog device" that allows you to write, take photos, video, etc. like your own camera crew for a reality show. I need to send the kids to the neighbors this summer so I can get some organizing done. This add organizing book has me spot on, I feel nervous about reading it because I wont have enough time to do what it will inspire me to do.Mad Men is so poignant and I love how it portrays societal disillusionment and the suburban dream, careers and romance vs. reality.I need a break from my kids! The iPad keyboard does not feel good at all. Unnatural angle for the wrists. I put the bottom of the case out and it feels better. But not good. Off to get Joshua.

Patience

I bought an orchid at Ikea in January. It bloomed gorgeously for 3 months. When the flowers started dropping off I wanted to throw it away, but the plant was still healthy. I put it in the bathroom. My friend just posted on facebook how sometimes it takes up to 3 years for an orchid to bloom again, but you just have to take care of them in the mean time. You must be patient to reap the rewards. Life's profound teachings come from unexpected places. I needed that today.

Feeling better

I am not feeling depressed any more. I have started cleaning again and it's been a while since I cleaned my boys room. I need to be more vigilant. The amount of dirt they bring into the house is crazy! In the carpet, everywhere. I swear I saw some tiny flies buzzing in there. We need to organize their toys. What an American problem! My children have so many toys we need to build more shelves to put them. I remember my mom screaming "Little Pieces!" and continuing to get rid of toys if I didn't play with them. She certainly did not keep many. But she did keep books from when we were little. I remember Grandma Veronica showing us my mom's old toys that she kept in a box. Young kids just destroy things! They don't mean to but...
The police just drove by...wonder if they are still patrolling for the intruder.

Today:

Today I will finish filing my bills.
Today I will make coconut cookies.
Today I will welcome Jeremy home after his 3 day trip to Seattle.
Today I will spend 30 minutes updating Quicken.
Today I will help Zachary work on his thank you notes despite not being able to find the list of who gave him what!
Today I will go to the gym and do a mini workout and shower. It's been too long!
Today I will go to the grocery store.

There are a million other little things that need to be done around here, but that's all I can commit to today! So many papers to be dealt with I get easily overwhelmed. I watched several Sonia Kashuk instructional videos last night and was really inspired. I am having skin problems and need to see a dermatologist. Yesterday my crowning achievement was having the Cox man properly bury our cable outside. Today the weather is supposed to be gorgeous. I had a dream that someone said I was fat. A fictional sister-in-law! Off to the gym I go!

Woo, long time
